'Where ghosts of labour rust'

This project documents the ecological succession of the mines in the UK, depicting nature reclaiming the space in a fight over territory. It is my intention through this work to promote the conservation of the structures the mining industry left behind as well as its rich history.

The project explores this topic through analogue processes such as medium format film, cafenol printing, Lith printing, liquid emulsion, and polaroid lifts. The tangible feel of prints and found objects, like boulder from the mines, sparked inspiration for these processes them adding a level of depth to the otherwise flat photographs.
